We started TaxLantern because Canadian tax information tends to come in two unhelpful forms: buried in legislation almost nobody can read, or watered down into advice so vague it does not help you decide anything.
TaxLantern sits in between. We take the GST/HST questions Canadian creators and small businesses actually struggle with, and answer them clearly, accurately, and with the sources shown, so you can understand your own situation and know what to do next.
How we work
Everything here is researched from public sources: the Excise Tax Act, CRA publications, and public tax decisions. Every article explains what the issue is, why it matters, what to do, and where to verify it.
What we are not
TaxLantern is educational information, not personalized tax advice, and we are not affiliated with the Canada Revenue Agency or the Government of Canada.
